Best Startup Events in Albania

Albania's startup scene is small but growing fast, and its main events now follow a clear yearly rhythm: a government investment forum in March, a Salesforce community conference and a hackathon in spring and summer, and a run of tech fairs and the Plug and Play demo day in September and October.
This guide lists startup, tech, investor and women-founder events in Albania from October 2026 to the end of 2027. Many of the biggest 2026 events have already taken place, and most 2027 dates are not published yet, so we say so plainly. We checked every date on the organiser's own website and mark each event as Confirmed (date on the official site), Announced (announced without a full date) or Expected (based on past editions only).

Global Entrepreneurship Week runs worldwide on 16–22 November 2026. Startup Albania was formally recognised as the national host in 2026, and earlier editions ran in Tirana in the third week of November. UN Women expo for women entrepreneurs: November 2026

UN Women has held a Women's Entrepreneurship Expo in Albania every year since 2023; the last one, on 29 October 2025 in Tirana, brought together more than 70 women-led businesses. For 2026–2027 the regional programme moves to a virtual expo in November 2026, followed by an investor pitch track in spring 2027 that Albanian founders can join. UN Women Albania

A rare international tech crowd in Tirana: the 2026 edition on 25 April had more than 300 attendees and 30 speakers from 18 countries. LEAPin, run by LDA Europe, takes place the same day.

Junction Tirana: expected June 2027

A 48-hour hackathon for builders aged 18 to 35, part of the Finnish Junction network and held in Albania for four years. The 2026 edition ran on 19–21 June at the Pyramid of Tirana. A good place to find a technical co-founder.

The Plug and Play expo is Albania's main investor-facing startup event; 2026 speakers came from Earlybird, IFC, Fil Rouge Capital and Plug and Play. Future2Tech, the country's largest tech and education fair, ran on 24–25 September 2026 at the Palace of Congresses and is expected again in September 2027.

Recurring meetups and communities

  • Startup Grind Tirana: fireside chats a few times a year, with nearly 3,800 members. 2026 events were in Shkodra in February, at the Pyramid in May and a summer fest in July. Startup Grind Tirana
  • Plug and Play Tirana masterclasses: free sessions for founders, such as the FounderDNA series and an investor-mindset masterclass in June 2026.
  • Salesforce Women in Tech group, Tirana: a community group that started its 2026 programme in January.
Several events from earlier versions of this guide could not be found. We found no trace of "Tirana Tech Hub monthly showcases", a "Balkans Innovation Summit" in 2025 or 2026, a "Digital Albania Conference" or "Albanian Startup Awards". The closest real events are the Plug and Play programme at the Pyramid of Tirana and the Western Balkans Innovation Summit, last held in 2023. Two regional events have also moved on: European Founders Week was held in Ksamil in 2025 but moved to Puglia, Italy, in 2026, and the 2026 Western Balkans Digital Summit was in Herceg Novi, Montenegro.

Events for women founders in Albania

Women are well represented among Albanian founders: a 2025 Startup Genome assessment counted 37% female founder participation, and 417 of the 1,219 applications to the 2026 state startup grant came from women and girls. Events to know:
  • UN Women's women entrepreneurs programme: the yearly expo (held in Tirana in 2023–2025), the November 2026 virtual expo and the spring 2027 investor track.
  • Women Startup Competition Albania: run by the Kallz Center with EBRD and EU support. A 2026 edition opened applications in May, with free masterclasses, mentoring for the top 10 and a final in front of investors; its dates have not been published. The international final is on 2–3 December 2026 in Budapest.
  • Salesforce Women in Tech group, Tirana: regular community meetups.

Albania's startup ecosystem in numbers

Earlier versions of this guide quoted investment growth figures we could not source. These are the numbers that hold up:
  • About 400 to 420 startups, mostly in Tirana, with a seed runway of around 3.6 months and "virtually non-existent" venture capital infrastructure, according to the Startup Genome assessment for EU4Innovation (January 2026). Keiretsu Forum is the only active angel network.
  • €6 million in state startup grants in 2026, doubled from the planned budget, with 1,219 applications and €16.5 million invested in startups over four years. Ministry announcement
  • Grants cover 75% to 100% of costs, depending on stage, for startups under six years old that are in the national startup register. Local and foreign founders, including digital nomads, can apply.
  • 0% profit tax for up to 15 years for innovative activities in technology zones and innovation parks.
  • A startup law since 2022. Law 25/2022 created the startup register and the startup passport, managed by Innovation4Albania, the state agency that runs Startup Albania (startupalbania.gov.al).

How to get the most out of Albanian startup events

  1. Plan around the yearly rhythm. March for Match-Maker, spring for Albania Dreamin', June for Junction, September and October for Future2Tech and the Plug and Play expo.
  2. Register in the startup register first. The state grants require it, and the agency's events are where you meet the people who run the calls.
  3. Go regional. With little local venture capital, Albanian startups raise from regional and EU investors, so pair Tirana events with ones in Europe.
  4. Use the free programmes. Plug and Play masterclasses, Global Entrepreneurship Week and Startup Grind cost nothing. See more startup competitions.
  5. Check dates before you book. Albanian organisers often publish dates only a few weeks ahead.
