Social Status Alternatives (2027): 9 Social Media Analytics and Reporting Tools With Free Plans, Competitor Benchmarks and Client Reports

Social Status Alternatives for Social Media Analytics, Competitor Benchmarking and Client Reports

Social Status is a social media analytics and reporting tool from Australia: it pulls the numbers from your Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, X and YouTube profiles, your Meta ad accounts, your competitors and the influencers you pay, and turns them into reports you can export or send on a schedule. It is still running in 2027, with a free plan and paid plans from $9 a month. You may still want an alternative: its cheaper plans cover few profiles and short data history, TikTok, LinkedIn and X sit only on its Essential plan among the small business plans, and it does not publish posts. We checked every tool below on its official pricing page, default view only, and judged it on what Social Status does best: analytics, benchmarks and reports.
Quick answer: for free analytics with competitor tracking, use Metricool (free plan with 5 competitor profiles and 30 days of analytics); for analytics-first reports on a small budget, use Iconosquare; for Instagram and TikTok audits and influencer checks, use Not Just Analytics; for team reporting with ROI and benchmarks, use Agorapulse or Sprout Social; and for agencies that send branded client reports, use Sendible.

What Social Status Does in 2027, and What It Costs

On its homepage, Social Status describes five parts: Social Reports (automated reports exported to Excel, PDF, PowerPoint and Google Slides), Profile Analytics for the pages you manage, Ads Analytics for Facebook, Instagram, TikTok and LinkedIn ad accounts, Competitor Analytics for any public profile, and Influencer Analytics, which connects read-only to each creator in a campaign so you stop collecting screenshots. The company behind it is Social Media Status Pty Ltd in Fortitude Valley, Queensland.
Its plans page (monthly view, checked October 2026) lists four small business plans: Free ($0, 1 profile, 1 month of data history), Micro ($9 a month, 3 profiles, 2 months), Basic ($29 a month, 10 profiles, 3 months, CSV, Excel, PDF and PowerPoint exports and white-label reports) and Essential ($49 a month, 40 profiles, 6 months). Every profile, ad account, competitor or influencer you add counts toward that quota. Paid plans start with a 14-day free trial, and larger Professional plans sit on a separate tab.

The Best Social Status Alternatives in 2027

1. Metricool: the most useful free analytics plan

Metricool is the closest free replacement for Social Status. Its Free plan covers 1 brand, 30 days of analytics, analysis of 5 competitor profiles, up to 20 scheduled posts a month and an AI assistant, but it leaves out LinkedIn and X. The Starter plan (from €16 a month billed yearly, as shown from our location) adds LinkedIn, up to 100 competitors, unlimited analytics history and PDF and PowerPoint reports; Advanced (from €43 a month) adds customizable report templates and a Data Studio connector. Pick it if you want analytics and competitor benchmarks without paying, and you post to Instagram, Facebook or TikTok.

2. Iconosquare: analytics-first, with a free plan

Iconosquare calls itself analytics-first social media management, which makes it the most direct swap for Social Status's reporting. It now belongs to Positive, the European software group that also owns Surfer. The Free plan covers 2 profiles, 1 user, 10 posts a month per profile, standard analytics and 1 month of history. Paid plans, shown yearly and in euros from our location, start with Starter at €9 a month (1 year of history), Launch at €33 (automated reports and one inbox) and Scale at €69 (competitor, hashtag and trend monitoring, 2 years of history). Paid plans start with a 14-day trial.

3. Not Just Analytics: Instagram and TikTok audits and influencer checks

Not Just Analytics focuses on Instagram and TikTok. You can type any public username on its homepage for a free profile check, then use paid plans for full analysis of your own profiles, competitor and influencer lists, and reports for clients. On its pricing page (yearly view), NJL Light costs €15.83 a month (€190 a year plus VAT), Standard €32.50 a month with customizable automatic reports, Advanced €57.50 and Pro €90.83. It replaces Social Status's Influencer and Competitor Analytics well if you only work on Instagram and TikTok, but it does not cover Facebook ads, LinkedIn or YouTube.

4. Buffer: basic insights for a tiny budget

Buffer is a scheduler first, but its analytics are enough for a solo founder. The Free plan connects 3 channels with 10 scheduled posts per channel and insights with a 30-day history; reports are not included. Essentials costs $5 per channel a month billed yearly and adds unlimited history, a performance overview and reports you can export as CSV or PDF; branded reports need the Team plan ($10 per channel a month). Choose Buffer if you want to see what works without paying for a full analytics suite.

5. Agorapulse: reporting and ROI for small teams

Agorapulse combines publishing, one inbox and reporting. Its Standard plan costs $79 per user a month billed yearly ($99 monthly), covers 10 profiles and includes audience and top-content reports, post performance, a basic ROI report through Google Analytics and branded report exports as PDF or CSV. Advanced reports, ads reports, full ROI analysis and competitor benchmarking come with the Advanced plan ($149 per user). You can try it free for 30 days without a card, and its FAQ says you can stay on a free plan afterwards; the free plan's limits are not listed on the pricing page.

6. Sprout Social: deep analytics, listening and influencers

Sprout Social is the premium choice. Its new Essentials plan costs $79 per seat a month billed yearly for 5 profiles with profile and post-level reporting; Standard is $199, Professional $299 (unlimited profiles, competitor, tag and paid insights) and Advanced $399. Premium Analytics and Listening are add-ons from Standard, and Sprout also sells Influencer Marketing and the NewsWhip media-monitoring platform separately. Every plan includes Trellis, its AI agent, with 100 credits per seat a month. There is a 30-day free trial and no free plan. Read our notes on what founders can learn from Sprout Social's NewsWhip deal.

7. Hootsuite: analytics, benchmarks and listening in one plan

Hootsuite shows its prices with a script, so we took them from the FAQ on its plans page: paid plans start at $99 for Standard, $199 for Professional and up to $399 for Advanced, per user a month with annual billing. Standard covers 10 social accounts with analytics and reporting, benchmarking against 5 competitors and social listening; Professional adds unlimited accounts, customizable, scheduled and exported reports and benchmarking against up to 20 competitors. There is a free 14-day trial and no free plan. We compare it with cheaper tools in free Hootsuite alternatives and with CoSchedule in Hootsuite vs CoSchedule.

8. Sendible: client reports for agencies, unlimited users

Sendible is built for agencies. Every plan has unlimited users, and plans are counted in workspaces of 6 social profiles each. In the default monthly view, Core costs $35 a month for 1 workspace with standard reports, Plus $99 for 3 workspaces, and Premium $199 for 7 workspaces with fully branded reports carrying your own logo and colours. White label for the whole dashboard is a paid add-on. There is a 14-day free trial with no card. It suits an agency that used Social Status mainly to send monthly client reports.

9. Vista Social: many profiles per plan

Vista Social lists Professional at $99 a month for 15 profiles and 2 users, with reports you can schedule in advance, and Advanced at $199 a month for 30 profiles, 3 users and custom reports. Listening on your own profiles is free; listening across social, web and news costs $75 a month extra. Each paid plan has a 14-day trial, and there is no free plan. It is a good fit for a team that needs many profiles and reports in one place.

Scheduling-First Tools From the Old List

Two tools from the 2025 version of this list are mainly schedulers. They have analytics, but they do not replace Social Status's competitor, ads and influencer reports:
  • Loomly: Starter costs $49 a month billed yearly ($65 monthly) for 12 social accounts and 3 users, with advanced analytics included.
  • SocialBee: now at socialbee.com (socialbee.io redirects there); the Bootstrap plan keeps up to 3 months of analytics, Accelerate adds advanced analytics, and exporting analytics reports needs Pro. Every plan starts with a 14-day trial.

What Changed Since the Last Version

  • Social Status is still active: it keeps a free plan and covers Ads and Influencer Analytics; the Professional plans are on a separate tab of its plans page.
  • No free plan: Hootsuite, Sprout Social, Sendible and Vista Social offer trials only (14 or 30 days).
  • Agorapulse: starts with a 30-day trial, and its FAQ says you can stay on a free plan afterwards.
  • Iconosquare: now part of the Positive group, with a free plan for 2 profiles.
  • Sprout Social: added a cheaper Essentials plan and now sells NewsWhip alongside its own plans.
  • Removed: the old general feature lists and the disclaimer, which had no sources.

How Founders Use Social Media Analytics

For an early-stage startup, social analytics answer one question: which posts bring people to your landing page, and which only collect likes. Pick two or three numbers per channel (reach, link clicks and sign-ups), check them weekly, and compare yourself with two competitors rather than with industry averages. Tag your links with UTM parameters and read the sign-ups in your web analytics; our list of open-source Google Analytics alternatives covers privacy-friendly options.
Keep the content side cheap too: free Canva Pro alternatives for social graphics, and AI agents for startup founders to draft weekly report summaries. Turn your best-performing posts into articles with the F/MS AI SEO Tool so they keep bringing visitors from Google and AI assistants after the feed has moved on.
