The best biotech and life sciences events for founders in 2027 are partnering meetings and investor forums: the places where a young company books one-to-one meetings with pharma, venture investors and licensing partners. These are the ten worth planning around, from Lyon, Basel, Copenhagen and Amsterdam to San Francisco, San Jose and Philadelphia.
Biotech is a sector where deals take years and most of the business happens in pre-booked meetings, so we chose events with a partnering system, a startup pitch or a strong investor audience. Europe comes first, with the best of the United States, where most biotech capital still sits. RESI (Redefining Early Stage Investments) is run by Life Science Nation during J.P. Morgan Healthcare week. It is built for companies raising from $25,000 to $50 million and matches them with investors whose mandates fit. In the Innovator's Pitch Challenge, first place wins free tickets to three RESI events (a $12,000 value) and second place tickets to two (an $8,000 value).

The main J.P. Morgan Healthcare Conference is by invitation only, so Biotech Showcase is the open door into the busiest investor week of the year. The organisers count more than 340 presenting companies and 1,200 investors. Its Seed Showcase track gives 15-minute slots to young companies with less than $2 million in funding that develop new therapeutic products.

Europe's largest spring partnering meeting, with more than 3,700 executives expected. Its Startup Spotlight lets eight young companies (founded in the last 3 years, up to €10 million raised, fewer than 25 staff) pitch to a jury for 6 minutes. The 2026 winner was Nionyx Bio, led by co-founder and CEO Magdalena Tyrpien. Our tip: the booking page and the FAQ give different deadlines for the €595 rate (11 December 2026 or 22 January 2027), so book before the earlier one.

Formerly the LSX World Congress. In 2027 it runs right after BIO-Europe Spring in the same city as part of a Spring Innovation Week, so one trip to Lyon covers partnering and fundraising. The 2026 edition counted more than 1,500 senior attendees and 500 investors. Biotech companies can book a Showcase package with two tickets and a presentation slot.

BioCentury's investor conference reaches its 27th edition in 2027. Emerging biotech companies apply to present to the investors in the room, which makes it one of Europe's best events for a Series A or B round. The event's own page is still a preview; the dates are on BioCentury's events page.

The summit moved from Paris to Amsterdam in 2026. It is the most science-founder-friendly event on this list: startups apply to the Hello Tomorrow Challenge, and the Women in Deep Tech programme supports women who build companies from research.

  • Global venture funding for life sciences and healthcare rose 10% in 2025, from $54 billion to $60 billion, and Europe grew 28%, according to HSBC Innovation Banking.
  • In Germany, private biotech companies raised €593 million of venture capital in 2025, 34% less than in 2024, according to BIO Deutschland.
  • Female-founded biopharma companies raised $4.8 billion across 203 deals in 2025 up to early December, far below the 2021 peak of $12.7 billion, according to PitchBook data reported by BioSpace.

How to choose the right biotech event

  1. Book meetings before you fly. Partnering events such as BIO-Europe Spring, BIO and Nordic Life Science Days open their meeting systems weeks ahead. The best slots go first.
  2. Raising money? Go where investors are. RESI and Biotech Showcase in January, LSX Investival in Lyon and Bio€quity Europe in Copenhagen are built around fundraising.
  3. Pitch where young companies are welcome. BIO-Europe Spring's Startup Spotlight, BIO's Start-Up Stadium, the Nordic Star (€10,000 prize), RESI's Innovator's Pitch Challenge and the Hello Tomorrow Challenge all take early teams.
  4. Combine trips. In Lyon, BIO-Europe Spring and LSX Investival run back to back in April. In January, RESI and Biotech Showcase share J.P. Morgan week in San Francisco.
