Top 10 Startup Events on Pitch Competitions in 2027

Startup Events: find startup events by country, city or type
The best pitch competitions of 2027 give founders more than three minutes on stage: prize money or investment, a room full of investors, and often a free ticket. These are the ten worth applying to, from Barcelona, Madrid, Amsterdam, Warsaw, Valletta and Tallinn to Doha, Austin, Houston and Montreal.
Most pitch competitions close their applications months before the event, so this list gives the application deadline wherever it is published. We checked every date on the organiser's own website and mark each one as Confirmed (date on the official site), Announced (reliable second source only) or Expected (based on past editions only). All ten below are Confirmed for 2027, with Europe first when the quality is equal.

Why pitch competitions matter: early-stage funding in numbers

  • US startups raised close to $18 billion in seed funding in 2025, about half of all global seed money, and more than 42% of global seed funding went to AI companies, according to Crunchbase News.
  • Female-founded companies took a record 27.7% of US venture deal value in 2025, $73.6 billion, but more than $30 billion of it went to two AI companies, and all-women teams got just 1.1% of the money, according to PitchBook data reported by WLRN.
  • Prize pots are real money: the Startup World Cup Grand Finale offers a $1,000,000 investment prize, Hello Tomorrow a €200K equity prize and the 4YFN Awards €20,000 in cash.

How to choose the right pitch competition

  1. Look at the deadline, not the event date. 4YFN closes on 26 October 2026, SXSW Pitch on 13 November, Hello Tomorrow on 30 November and South Summit on 31 January 2027.
  2. Match the stage and sector. Hello Tomorrow is for deep tech up to Series B, Rice is for student teams, 4YFN is for digital startups up to 7 years old, and South Summit takes any stage.
  3. Check the cost. South Summit is free to enter, SXSW Pitch charges $225, and some competitions are only open to startups that buy a programme or exhibition package.
  4. Read what the prize really is. Cash (4YFN), an equity investment (Hello Tomorrow, Latitude59) and in-kind packages (EU-Startups) are worth very different amounts to a young company.
  5. Use the room, not only the stage. Most finalists don't win, but they meet the judges and investors. Book meetings before you arrive.
