Beirut Startups to Watch in 2027: 8 Verified Lebanese Companies, Their Funding and Lessons for Founders

Beirut Startups to Watch in 2027: Verified Lebanese Companies in Delivery, Fintech, Legal AI and Climate

Beirut has produced well-known tech companies despite a long economic crisis and repeated conflict, and its founders are known for building lean and selling across the region early. But lists of "top startups" age fast, and the 2026 version of this article named ten companies, most of which we could not find at all. For this 2027 edition we started again: we checked every company on its own website, careers, contact or legal page in October 2026, that it still operates, that it gives a Beirut or Lebanon base, what it actually sells and what it publishes about its numbers. Funding rounds we found only in the press are named with the outlet, mostly Wamda, the regional startup publication. The old names and why they are gone are listed near the end.
Quick answer: the Beirut and Lebanon startups to watch in 2027 are Toters (a delivery super app), Whish Money (a licensed payments app), HAQQ (legal AI), Wakilni (e-commerce logistics), SE Factory (tech bootcamps and hiring), FabricAID (second-hand clothing), Dooda Solutions (organic fertiliser from earthworms) and Garbaliser (fertiliser from organic waste). Anachron Tech, Groovy Antoid, CBlocks and the other names on the old list are gone because we could not verify them as Beirut startups.

Why Beirut Matters for Founders in 2027

The StartupBlink 2026 ecosystem index ranks Beirut 341st in the world and 10th in the Middle East, up 36 places globally and 4 places in the region compared with 2025. It counts 111 startups in the city and names edtech as Beirut's leading industry. That is a modest position, but the companies below show two real strengths: founders who solve everyday problems that the state or banks do not solve (deliveries, payments, logistics), and companies that expand early to Iraq, Jordan, Egypt and the Gulf because the home market is small.
Support exists if you know where to look. Berytech runs incubation and acceleration programmes from sites in Achrafieh, at Saint Joseph University's Mar Roukoz campus and in the Beirut Digital District, and says it has supported more than 700 startups; when we checked in October 2026, its ScaleSmart investment-readiness programme invited applications before 30 November. The Beirut Digital District rents offices and hot desks to startups and hosted AWS Community Day Lebanon and the Lebanon AI Festival in 2026. According to Wamda, B&Y Venture Partners launched the Lebanese Angel Investor Network (LAIN) in May 2026 with the support of Lebanon's Ministry of Technology and Artificial Intelligence. The Beirut Startups to Watch in 2027

1. Toters: a delivery super app built in Beirut

Toters is a delivery app for food, groceries, electronics and other goods, with real-time order tracking, partner stores and its own couriers. Its careers page speaks of "our Beirut HQ", and its about page lists more than 10 cities, more than 600 team members, more than 4,000 partners and more than 1,000,000 customers. According to Wamda, Toters was founded in 2017 by Tamim Khalfa and Nael Halwani, has operated in Iraq since 2019, and raised an $18 million Series B in June 2022 from the International Finance Corporation (IFC) and March Holding, with B&Y Venture Partners returning. Wamda also describes how it grew from food delivery into courier and payment services.
Lesson for founders: a small home market pushes you to expand early. Toters took the model it proved in Lebanon to a larger neighbouring market.

2. Whish Money: a licensed payments app

Whish Money is an all-in-one payments app: instant money transfers, bill payments for utilities and telecom, vouchers and a free Whish Digital Visa Card. Its homepage says it is licensed by Banque du Liban, Lebanon's central bank, under a resolution dated 10 August 2022, and that it operates in more than 1,000 locations in Lebanon. We found no funding announcement on its site, so we cite none.
Lesson for founders: when trust in banks is low, a licensed product with physical cash-in points can win users that a purely digital app cannot.

3. HAQQ: legal AI for lawyers in the region

HAQQ builds a legal AI that reads documents, drafts contracts and answers legal questions, plus eFirm, a practice management system for drafting and billing. Its site shows a free plan and paid plans, with Starter at $30 per user per month and eFirm at $25 per user per month (minimum 2 seats), says it serves more than 17,000 legal teams, and carries a testimonial from the president of the Beirut Bar Association. Its own pages name no headquarters; according to Wamda, HAQQ is headquartered in Lebanon with operations in Egypt and Jordan, was founded in 2020 by Antoine Kanaan and Abbas Kabalan, and had raised $3 million to date in February 2026, in a round led by Sowlutions Ventures.
Lesson for founders: partnering with a professional body, here a bar association, gives a new legal tool the trust that lawyers need before they switch.

4. Wakilni: logistics for online shops

Wakilni calls itself an e-commerce fulfilment partner for small and medium online businesses: it stores stock, processes and packs orders and delivers them, and it also runs deliveries, pickups, purchases and government paperwork for individuals and companies. Its homepage gives the address of its e-commerce hub in the Dekwaneh industrial zone, Beirut, quotes delivery across Lebanon within 24 to 72 hours from $6, shows an ISO 9001 badge and offers separate sites for Lebanon and Jordan. We found no funding announcement on its site.
Lesson for founders: every marketplace needs someone to move the goods. Serving many small online sellers spreads your risk across hundreds of customers.

5. SE Factory: tech talent from Beirut

SE Factory trains, places and upskills software engineers: it runs bootcamps of more than 400 hours, places graduates with employers (including as employer of record, handling contracts and payroll) and offers corporate training in AI and cloud. Its homepage gives its address in the Beirut Digital District, cites more than 1,200 graduates and a placement success rate above 80%, and advertised a 4-week Applied AI Engineering Workshop starting on 19 October when we checked.
Lesson for founders: Lebanon's engineers work for companies all over the world. A business that trains and places them sells a scarce resource, not a commodity.

6. FabricAID: second-hand clothing at scale

FabricAID is a social enterprise that collects donated clothes through drop-off bins, sorts and upcycles them, and sells them at low prices through its retail brands Souk el Khalanj and Second Base. It also produces low-cost clothing and uniforms and runs FabricED, a tailoring school. Its homepage lists 300 bins in Lebanon and 50 in Jordan, and its about page says co-founder Omar Itani started it as a social media experiment in December 2016. According to Wamda, which gives 2017 as the founding year (the dates differ, we use the earlier one), FabricAID raised a $1.6 million seed round in January 2022 with Wamda and Alfanar, bringing its total to $2.1 million.
Lesson for founders: a social enterprise can still raise venture money if it has a repeatable model: here, collection bins, sorting and its own shops.

7. Dooda Solutions: fertiliser made by earthworms

Dooda Solutions produces organic vermicompost, fertiliser made with earthworms, and sells products such as Eco Soil Vermicompost and Vermi Gold in its online shop from $12. Its site lists a Lebanese (+961) phone number and links press that describes it as Lebanon-based. According to Wamda, the woman-led company was founded in 2018 by Nada Ghanem and won a $100,000 grant in November 2023 in PepsiCo's Greenhouse Accelerator, MENA Sustainability Edition, after being chosen from more than 180 applicants.
Lesson for founders: corporate accelerators run by large food companies are a realistic source of non-dilutive money for agritech startups.

8. Garbaliser: turning organic waste into fertiliser

Garbaliser turns locally available biomass, such as food leftovers and agricultural residues, into products for farms, close to where the waste is produced. Its homepage says it was born in Lebanon's Bekaa Valley and names the company Garbaliser SAL. According to Wamda, it was founded in 2020 by sisters Hanan and Zeinab Ismail, makes a liquid fertiliser that farmers add to irrigation, and secured $436,000 for a 12% stake on Shark Tank Dubai, announced in March 2024.
Lesson for founders: you do not have to be in the capital. A rural problem, solved where it happens, can attract investors from the Gulf.

Beirut Companies From the Old List That Changed or Could Not Be Verified

The 2026 version of this article listed ten companies with precise funding and user numbers but no working sources. Here is what we found:
  • Anachron Tech, MedicaTech, Leb-Farms, Chthonic Studios, Smart-Energy Solutions, Edutree and BioBeirut: we found no company website, registration or press coverage for a Lebanese startup under any of these names, so we removed them and their figures.
  • Groovy Antoid: a real Beirut company, but according to a Techstars jobs listing it is a mobile and messenger game developer, not the urban mobility startup the old article described, and its website did not load when we checked.
  • Sweat from Home: the live-streamed workout company of that name was founded in Brooklyn, New York, according to Starter Story, and we found no Lebanese company behind it.
  • CBlocks: the crypto wallet startup on a USB drive was founded in Miami, according to Dealroom, not in Lebanon.
  • Anghami: the music streaming service launched in Beirut in November 2012 but, as its investor page says, moved its headquarters to Abu Dhabi in 2021. It trades on Nasdaq, and according to Wamda, its controlling shareholder OSN Streaming made a non-binding proposal in July 2026 to take it private at $3.39 a share. It is no longer a Beirut startup.
  • MYKI: the Lebanon-born password manager was acquired by JumpCloud in March 2022, according to Wamda.
We also removed the old article's unsourced figures (such as "$150 million in venture capital" and "38% of Lebanese" patients), its links to third-party startup lists, and claims about accelerators and funds that we could not confirm on their official pages.
