Rank Tracker vs Mangools (2027): Which Rank Tracking Tool Gives a Startup More for Its Money?

Rank Tracker vs Mangools: Which Rank Tracking Tool Gives a Startup More for Its Money?

Once your startup has a website and a few articles, you want to know one thing every week: are we moving up in Google? Two tools that founders on a budget often compare for this are Rank Tracker, the desktop rank tracking app from SEO PowerSuite (made by Link-Assistant.Com), and Mangools, a browser-based bundle of five simple SEO tools whose rank tracker is called SERPWatcher. They take opposite approaches: Rank Tracker lets you track as many keywords as you like on your own computer for a yearly licence, while Mangools gives you a fixed number of tracked keywords inside a friendly online suite that also does keyword research and backlinks. We checked both on their official pages in October 2026 and compared them for the job of rank tracking.
Quick answer: if rank tracking is your main need and you track many keywords, choose Rank Tracker: Professional costs €179 a year for unlimited keywords, scheduled checks and 5 competitors per project, though it runs as a desktop app. If you want keyword research, a simple weekly rank report and backlink data in one browser tool, choose Mangools: Basic costs €37.70 a month on yearly billing (€452.40 a year) and tracks 200 keywords weekly. Both have a free option, so test them on your own keywords before you pay.

The Two Tools in 2027

Rank Tracker by SEO PowerSuite: unlimited keywords on your own computer

Rank Tracker is one of the four desktop apps in SEO PowerSuite, next to WebSite Auditor, SEO SpyGlass and LinkAssistant. You download it for Windows, macOS or Linux, and Link-Assistant says it serves around 20,000 users a month. Its selling point is that there is no limit on keywords, websites or locations: you pay for features, not for the size of your keyword list. What it does for rank tracking:
  • Many search engines: Google (including Maps, featured snippets, ads and image packs), Bing, Yahoo, YouTube, Naver, Yandex and Baidu. Link-Assistant says over 597 search engines on the Rank Tracker page; its pricing page uses rounder figures of 400+ and 550+.
  • Deep and local checks: desktop or mobile rankings for a country, state, city or exact street address, scanning the top 10, top 50 or up to the top 1,000 results.
  • History and competitors: it saves the top 30 results with every check and keeps ranking history for as long as you need; you can track 1, 5 or 40 competitors per project, depending on the licence.
  • Scheduling: paid licences run checks automatically every day, week or month, or on a date you choose, and connect Google Analytics and Search Console.
  • Keyword research in the same app: ranking keywords, Google and Amazon suggestions, Google Ads Keyword Planner data, related questions, a Keyword Gap tool and keyword difficulty.

The trade-off: Rank Tracker is software installed on your computer, not a web dashboard your team logs in to, and the free version leaves out the captcha-free query processing of the paid licences. Reports can be uploaded to Dropbox or the SEO PowerSuite cloud for a shareable link, and scheduled branded reports by email come with the Enterprise licence.

What Rank Tracker costs

The SEO PowerSuite pricing page sells Rank Tracker on its own or in the full suite. Every plan is billed once a year (the default view; 2-year and 3-year plans cost less per year):
  • Free, €0: check rankings for unlimited keywords and 1 competitor per project, but you cannot save projects, schedule tasks, copy data or print reports. Good for a test, not for tracking progress over months.
  • Rank Tracker Professional, €179 a year: for in-house use. 5 competitors per project, unlimited saved projects, scheduled tasks, captcha-free checks and printed reports with a watermark.
  • Rank Tracker Enterprise, €419 a year: for client work. 40 competitors per project, plus saving, emailing and scheduling reports and export to CSV, SQL and HTML.
  • SEO PowerSuite bundle: all four apps, including a site auditor and a backlink checker, for €349 (Professional), €599 (Enterprise) or €899 (Max +) a year. Every edition, the free one too, lists Google AI Overviews tracking.
  • Refunds: you can cancel at any time, but Link-Assistant does not refund partial use or the time left on a subscription. Test the free version first.

Mangools: SERPWatcher plus four simple SEO tools

Mangools is a bundle of small tools that share one login and one subscription. Its rank tracker, SERPWatcher, promises setup in 30 seconds and shows a Performance Index, an estimate of your organic traffic potential based on your positions and the search volume of each keyword. It tracks desktop and mobile results in more than 65,000 locations, including states, counties, cities and DMA regions, sends email alerts about important rank changes, and lets you share an interactive report with clients or teammates by link. Rankings update weekly on Basic and Premium and daily on the Agency plan. Mangools' pages describe Google results only; no Bing, Yahoo or YouTube tracking is listed.

The other tools in the bundle are what make Mangools more than a rank tracker:
  • KWFinder: keyword research with search volumes and a keyword difficulty score, from a database Mangools puts at 2.5 billion keywords, for more than 65,000 locations.
  • SERPChecker: shows who ranks for a keyword with 45+ SEO metrics, in desktop or mobile results.
  • LinkMiner: a backlink checker that Mangools says draws on 9.5 trillion backlinks, including Majestic's fresh and historic index.
  • SiteProfiler: a domain overview with Moz and Majestic authority metrics, top content and competitors.
  • AI Search Watcher: tracks how ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, AI Mode, Gemini, Claude, Grok, Mistral and Llama mention your brand. The PRO version with 500 prompts is included in every Mangools plan; on its own it costs €34.90 a month on yearly billing, and a free version covers 5 prompts.

What Mangools costs

The Mangools pricing page opens on yearly billing, which Mangools says saves about 35% against monthly payments:
  • Basic, €37.70 a month (€452.40 a year): 200 tracked keywords updated weekly, 100 keyword lookups and 100 SERP analyses a day, 100,000 backlink rows a month, no extra seats.
  • Premium, €52.70 a month (€632.40 a year): 700 tracked keywords updated weekly, 500 lookups a day, 500,000 backlink rows a month, 3 extra seats available.
  • Agency, €97.70 a month (€1,172.40 a year): 1,500 tracked keywords updated daily, 1,200 lookups a day, 1.2 million backlink rows a month, 5 extra seats available.
  • On every plan: API and MCP access and AI Search Watcher PRO. The Mangools FAQ also lists monthly plans and a free plan that needs no credit card, and Mangools refunds you in full within 48 hours of payment (not for two consecutive subscriptions).

Rank Tracking Head to Head: Price per Tracked Keyword

For rank tracking alone, Rank Tracker gives you far more for the money. Its Professional licence costs €179 a year with no keyword limit, while €452.40 a year buys 200 weekly-tracked keywords on Mangools Basic, and daily updates on Mangools need the Agency plan at €1,172.40 a year for 1,500 keywords. Even the whole SEO PowerSuite bundle (€349 a year) costs less than Mangools Basic.
Yearly cost: Rank Tracker Professional €179, SEO PowerSuite Professional €349, Rank Tracker Enterprise €419, Mangools Basic €452.40, Mangools Premium €632.40, Mangools Agency €1,172.40
What a year of rank tracking costs: Rank Tracker vs Mangools.
But price per keyword is not the whole story:
  • Convenience: Mangools runs in the browser, updates on its own and shares a live report by link. Rank Tracker is a desktop app you install, and you share results as uploaded reports.
  • What else you get: Mangools includes keyword research, SERP analysis, backlinks and AI search tracking in one price. Rank Tracker alone has keyword research, but backlinks and site audits need the SEO PowerSuite bundle.
  • Search engines: if Bing, Yahoo, YouTube, Naver, Baidu or Yandex matter to your market, Rank Tracker is the clear choice.
  • Fresh data: weekly updates are fine for a new site that publishes a few articles a month. If you run campaigns and want next-day data, Rank Tracker's daily schedule is cheaper than Mangools Agency.
  • AI search: Mangools' AI Search Watcher covers more AI engines and 500 prompts in every plan; Rank Tracker tracks Google AI Overviews in the results it checks.

Not to Be Confused: Ranktracker.com

Search for "Rank Tracker vs Mangools" and you will also find reviews of Ranktracker.com, a different product with a similar name. It is a browser-based SEO suite with a rank tracker, keyword finder, SERP checker, web audit, backlink checker and backlink monitor, so it is closer in shape to Mangools. Its pricing page lists the Launch plan at $39 a month for 500 keywords tracked daily in the top 100, and it offers a free account. When we checked, it was running a limited-time annual discount, so check the current price yourself. This article compares the SEO PowerSuite desktop app, which the earlier version of this post described.

What Changed Since the Earlier Version of This Article

  • Prices: the 2026 version of this article said Mangools starts at $55 a month and that Rank Tracker is the pricier, enterprise option. Today it is the other way round: Rank Tracker Professional costs €179 a year and Mangools Basic €452.40 a year.
  • Unsourced scores removed: the old usability scores (9/10 vs 7.5/10) and the "50+ insights per keyword" figure had no source, so we removed them.
  • "Real-time" data: Rank Tracker checks rankings when you run or schedule a check; it is not a live feed.
  • Local SEO: both tools now track local results, Rank Tracker down to a street address and Mangools in 65,000+ locations, so the old "Mangools for local, Rank Tracker for global" advice no longer holds.
  • New AI features: Mangools added AI Search Watcher PRO and API and MCP access to every plan; SEO PowerSuite added Google AI Overviews tracking to every edition.

Which One Should You Choose?

  • You track hundreds of keywords on a small budget: Rank Tracker Professional, €179 a year with no keyword limit.
  • You want one simple browser tool for keywords, rankings and backlinks: Mangools Basic, if 200 keywords updated weekly is enough.
  • You need daily rankings: Rank Tracker with a daily scheduled task, or Mangools Agency if you prefer the browser and track up to 1,500 keywords.
  • You sell in markets where Bing, YouTube, Naver, Baidu or Yandex matter: Rank Tracker.
  • You report to clients: Rank Tracker Enterprise (€419 a year) for 40 competitors and scheduled branded reports, or Mangools Premium or Agency for shared live reports and extra seats.
  • You are not ready to pay: the free Rank Tracker version for one-off checks, the free Mangools account, and Google Search Console for your average positions.

How Founders Use Rank Tracking Tools

A rank tracker is only useful if you act on what it shows. Start with 20 to 50 keywords that match pages you already have, group them by topic, and check them weekly. When a page sits in positions 5 to 15, improve it before you write something new; when a page drops, look at who replaced you. Use Keyword Tool vs Keyword Planner to find the keywords first.
Comparing other trackers? We tested Rank Tracker against an enterprise platform in BrightEdge vs Rank Tracker and against a traffic intelligence tool in Rank Tracker vs Similarweb. For Mangools from a beginner's point of view, read SE Ranking vs Mangools, and for Mangools' keyword tool against a pure rank tracker, KWFinder vs Wincher. Other cloud rank trackers are covered in SE Ranking vs AccuRanker, Ahrefs vs Wincher and Serpstat vs Wincher. If KWFinder appeals to you, Semrush vs Long Tail Pro explains why it replaced a discontinued keyword tool, and our list of free Ahrefs alternatives covers tools that cost nothing.
Rankings follow content. If you do not have time to write, the F/MS AI SEO Tool turns your keyword list into articles that can rank in Google and in AI assistants.
