Keyword Tool vs Keyword Revealer (2027): Which Keyword Research Tool Should a Startup Pick?

Keyword Tool vs Keyword Revealer: Which Keyword Research Tool Should a Startup Pick in 2027?

Keyword Tool (keywordtool.io) and Keyword Revealer (keywordrevealer.com) are both popular with founders who do their own SEO, but they answer different questions. Keyword Tool finds what people type: it mines autocomplete on Google, YouTube, Amazon, TikTok and 13 other platforms for long-tail phrases. Keyword Revealer tells you which keywords you can win: it scores keyword difficulty, tracks your rankings and backlinks and, since its relaunch, checks whether Google's AI Overviews and ChatGPT cite your site. We checked both tools on their official pages on 30 October 2026.
Quick answer: if you can pay for only one tool, a content-led startup gets more from Keyword Revealer: it has a free plan with no credit card, and paid plans start at $12.50 a month billed annually, with difficulty scores, rank tracking and AI citation checks. Choose Keyword Tool when your customers search on YouTube, Amazon, Etsy or TikTok, or when you need hundreds of long-tail ideas per search: its ideas are free, but search volume, CPC and competition for every keyword start at $68 a month billed annually. On a $0 budget, use both free versions together.

What Is Keyword Tool?

Keyword Tool builds keyword lists from autocomplete: it adds letters and numbers before and after your seed keyword and collects what the platform suggests. Those suggestions are real searches, many of them long-tail phrases that an early-stage startup can actually rank for. The free version works without an account, uses 190+ Google domains and 120+ Google language interfaces, and returns up to 750+ ideas per search.

  • 17 platforms: Google, YouTube, Bing, Copilot, Perplexity, Amazon, eBay, the App Store, Google Play, Instagram, X, Reddit, Pinterest, Etsy, TikTok, Naver and Google Trends, each with its own keyword list.
  • Where the numbers come from: Google and Bing volumes come from Google's and Bing's own keyword planners; volumes for the other platforms are estimates based on clickstream data.
  • Pro data: search volume, CPC, competition, device breakdown and trend history for every keyword; Google data covers 190+ countries, 68,000+ locations and 50+ languages.
  • Bulk and automation: about 1,000 ideas per request, bulk search volume for up to 1,000 pasted keywords at once, and the API and an MCP server on every paid plan, so AI assistants can pull the same data.
  • What it does not do: no SEO keyword difficulty score, no rank tracking and no backlink data.
Keyword Tool Pro pricing: on the pricing page's default annual view, Starter costs $68 a month, Growth $148, Scale $308 and Agency $628. The plans differ in requests a day (50, 100, 200, 400), search volume lookups a day (50,000 to 400,000 keywords) and trend history (12, 24 or 48 months). Monthly billing costs more. There is no free trial, but there is a 30-day money-back guarantee, and you can cancel any time.

What Changed Since the 2026 Version of This Article

  • The price order flipped: the earlier version said Keyword Tool had the lower starting price. Today Keyword Revealer is the cheaper paid tool ($12.50 vs $68 a month, both billed annually), and both have a free version.
  • Keyword Revealer relaunched as an AI search (AEO and GEO) platform, with citation monitoring and an AI Overview Simulator next to its keyword, rank-tracking and backlink tools. Plans were renamed: Free, Basic, Pro, Elite and Agency.
  • Keyword Tool grew to 17 platforms, including Perplexity, Copilot and Reddit, and every paid plan now includes the API and MCP access.
  • Removed: a "28% more organic traffic" success story with no source, opinions such as "higher learning curve", and six links to third-party review articles. Every fact above now comes from the two tools' own sites.

Which One Should a Startup Choose?

  • You have no budget: Keyword Tool's free version for long-tail ideas, then Keyword Revealer's Free plan for a few difficulty checks a day.
  • You publish blog content to win organic traffic: Keyword Revealer, because Keyword Tool has no difficulty score, rank tracking or backlink data.
  • Your customers search on YouTube, Amazon, Etsy or TikTok: Keyword Tool, which has a separate keyword list for each platform.
  • You want to know whether AI answers mention you: Keyword Revealer's free AI search simulation, then Pro if you need daily prompt audits.
  • You build automations or AI workflows: Keyword Tool, whose API and MCP server come with every paid plan.
  • You need volume and ad costs for free: Google Keyword Planner; see Keyword Tool vs Keyword Planner and Keyword Revealer vs Keyword Planner.
