Semrush Alternatives in 2027: 11 Sites and Tools Like Semrush, Paid and Free

Semrush is the best-known all-in-one SEO suite: keyword research, competitor analysis, backlinks, rank tracking, site audits and tracking of how ChatGPT and Google's AI answers mention your brand. It is also one of the more expensive ways for a startup to do SEO. If you searched for sites similar to Semrush, you probably want one of three things: a suite that does most of the same jobs for less, a site that shows competitors' traffic the way Semrush's market tools do, or a free option to start with. We checked every tool below on its official pricing page on 3 November 2026, in the default view each page showed us (some in euros, some in US dollars, as we checked from Europe), without clicking any toggles.
Quick answer: the closest like-for-like Semrush alternatives are Ahrefs (Starter €27 or $29 a month, plus the free Ahrefs Free for your own site) and SE Ranking (Core €87.20 a month billed yearly, 14-day trial without a card). On a small budget, look at Serpstat ($50 a month billed yearly), Mangools (€37.70 a month billed yearly) or Seobility (free Basic plan, Premium €59.90 a month). For competitor traffic rather than SEO, the site most like Semrush's market tools is Similarweb (from $125 a month billed yearly). European teams that think in terms of visibility should also try Sistrix (from €119 a month, 14-day trial).

What Semrush Costs Now: the Baseline

To compare fairly you need Semrush's own current prices. Its SEO + AI Search pricing page opened on yearly billing for us: the SEO plan costs €112.52 a month billed annually (€134 month to month), Starter €158.40 (€190) and Pro+ €238 (€286); Advanced is priced on request. The SEO plan monitors 5 websites and tracks 500 keywords daily; Starter adds MCP access and 50 AI prompts tracked daily; Pro+ raises the limits to 15 websites and 1,500 keywords. Extra users start at €43 a month.
Semrush also has a free plan (1 demo project and 10 reports a day, no credit card) and a 7-day free trial, so test it before you rule it out. Ownership changed: Semrush's customer FAQ of 28 April 2026 says Adobe has officially acquired Semrush, with no immediate changes to services, features or billing. Sites like Semrush: which one fits a startup?

All-in-One SEO Suites Like Semrush

1. Ahrefs: the closest rival, and the cheapest way in

Ahrefs covers the same core jobs as Semrush (Site Explorer for competitors and backlinks, Keywords Explorer, Rank Tracker, Site Audit, Brand Radar for AI visibility) and is traditionally the stronger of the two for link research. Its pricing page showed Starter at €27 a month, Lite €119, Standard €229 and Advanced €419 in our default view ($29, $129, $249 and $449 in the USD view); Enterprise costs €1,394 ($1,499) a month with an annual commitment. There is no free trial, but what used to be Ahrefs Webmaster Tools is now Ahrefs Free: unlimited verified websites, 5,000 crawl credits per project a month for Site Audit and up to 1,000 of your own backlinks at once.
vs Semrush: cheaper to start, no trial, weekly rank updates instead of daily. Full head-to-head: Ahrefs vs Semrush; if Ahrefs is also too expensive, see Ahrefs alternatives.

2. SE Ranking: more keywords for the money

SE Ranking is the alternative most often picked by small teams that want Semrush's toolset at a lower price. Its pricing page opened on yearly billing: Core costs €87.20 a month (€109 month to month) and Growth €188 (€235). Core includes 10 projects, 1 manager seat, 2,000 keywords tracked daily, 250,000 audited pages a month, 25,000 API credits with MCP access and 25 AI prompts a day across five AI engines. Both plans start with a 14-day free trial, no credit card required.

vs Semrush: four times the daily tracked keywords of Semrush's SEO plan for less money; smaller extra toolkits. Compare it with its neighbours in Moz vs SE Ranking, Serpstat vs SE Ranking and SE Ranking vs Mangools.

3. Moz Pro: Domain Authority and a cheap entry plan

Moz Pro showed US dollars and monthly billing by default: Standard $99 a month ($79 a month paid yearly), Medium $179 ($143) and Large $299 ($239). Standard includes 3 tracked sites, 300 tracked keywords and 150 tracked AI prompts. For one website there is an entry-level plan at $49 a month, and a free Moz Community account gives limited access to MozBar, Keyword Explorer and Link Explorer. The Medium plan has a "Try it free" button.
vs Semrush: fewer extras, but cheaper to start and known for its Domain Authority metric. See Moz vs Mangools and our new Moz vs AnswerThePublic.

4. Serpstat: a budget all-in-one

Serpstat opened on its annual-discount view in US dollars: Individual $50 a month (5 projects, 100 searches for sites, keywords and links), Team $100, Team x2 $169 and Agency $410, with up to 27% off for annual billing. It covers keyword research, competitor analysis, rank tracking, site audits and backlinks. Its FAQ offers a free 7-day trial of the Individual or Team plan; you enter a card for verification and the $1 check is returned.
vs Semrush: similar modules at well under half the entry price, with a smaller ecosystem. Read Serpstat vs Mangools.

vs Semrush: no cloud dashboards in the core apps, but unlimited projects on paid plans for a low yearly price.

Sites Like Semrush for Traffic and Competitor Research

10. Similarweb: competitor traffic and market data

If "similar sites" means a tool that shows how much traffic a competitor gets and where it comes from, Similarweb is the obvious match for Semrush's Traffic and Market toolkit. Its self-service plans start with Competitive Intelligence at $125 a month billed annually or $199 monthly (1 user, 3 months of history: traffic, engagement, demographics, channels and competitor alerts). Competitive Intel and SEO and AEO costs $333 a month billed annually ($399 monthly) and adds keyword research, a rank tracker, site audit, backlinks and 150 tracked AI prompts. The free Website Traffic Checker gives quick estimates for any site.
vs Semrush: stronger for market and traffic intelligence, weaker as a day-to-day SEO tool. Details in Semrush vs Similarweb.

11. SpyFu: competitors' SEO and Google Ads keywords

SpyFu focuses on what competitors rank and bid for, with ad history and more than 10 years of organic ranking history. Its pricing page shows Basic at $39 a month ($29 billed annually), Pro + AI at $59 for the first month and $119 after that ($89 billed annually) and Team/Agency at $249, with a 30-day money-back guarantee.
vs Semrush: cheaper for competitor and PPC research, lighter on audits and AI search. See SpyFu vs SE Ranking.

Free Semrush Alternatives

  • Ahrefs Free: Site Audit and your own backlinks and keywords for every site you verify.
  • Semrush Free: Semrush's own free plan, 10 reports a day, is often enough to check a few competitors.
  • Seobility Basic: 1 project and 10 tracked keywords, free forever.
  • SEO PowerSuite Free: desktop audits of 500 URLs and backlink checks, without saving projects.
  • Screaming Frog SEO Spider: the free version crawls up to 500 URLs for technical checks; a licence costs £199 a year.
  • Sistrix and Similarweb free tools: quick checks without a paid plan.
  • More options: free Ahrefs alternatives and our list of SEO ranking checker tools.

Specialist Tools from the Old List, and What Changed

The earlier version of this list also included three tools that do one job well but are not Semrush-style suites:
  • Majestic is a backlink index only. Its plans page showed Lite at €46.99 and Pro at €94.99 a month (excl. VAT) on monthly billing, with a 7-day money-back guarantee for new customers. Read Semrush vs Majestic.
  • Screaming Frog SEO Spider is a desktop crawler for technical audits (free up to 500 URLs). See Screaming Frog vs Wincher.
  • Surfer is a content optimisation tool. surferseo.com now redirects to surfer.ai, where Surfer is presented as an AI search product of the Positive group. See free Surfer SEO alternatives.
Other changes since the old version: Semrush has been an Adobe company since April 2026 and sells SEO + AI Search plans instead of the old Pro, Guru and Business names; Ahrefs Webmaster Tools is now Ahrefs Free; Sistrix, Seobility and Similarweb were added. We removed the old database-size claims (such as "over 25 trillion links") and the price claims that had no figures, because they were not on the vendors' pages.

Which Semrush Alternative Should You Choose?

  • You want Semrush's toolset for less: SE Ranking (14-day trial, no card) or Serpstat (7-day trial).
  • Link building drives your growth: Ahrefs; start with Ahrefs Free and Starter.
  • You are a solo founder doing keyword research: Mangools or Ubersuggest.
  • You have no budget yet: Ahrefs Free, Semrush Free and Seobility Basic together.
  • You sell mainly in European markets: Sistrix, or Seobility for audits.
  • You need competitors' traffic and market share, not rankings: Similarweb.
  • You run Google Ads and want competitors' keywords: SpyFu.
  • You want enterprise SEO: compare Semrush vs BrightEdge first.

How Founders Use a Semrush Alternative to Get Customers

An SEO suite only pays off if it changes what you publish. Pick five to ten searches that describe your customers' problem, check their difficulty, track them and write one useful page per topic. Most early-stage startups need one paid tool at most; the rest of the stack can be free. Our hub of SEO and keyword research tools for startups shows which tool fits which stage, and Semrush vs Long Tail Pro helps if you mostly chase long-tail keywords.
Then turn the keywords into articles. The F/MS AI SEO Tool writes articles from your keywords that are built to rank on Google and to be cited by ChatGPT and Perplexity, with human editors checking them, and F/MS Marketing Services can add backlinks and guest posts that build your authority. If nobody searches for the problem you solve, validate your startup idea before you build.
